I have an E85 and have just bought an E89. I'd like to swap the alloy wheels between them.
The tyres sizes are the same but the wheel offset is different.
The E85 has BMW LA wheel Turbine styling 201 - 8J17 ET:46
The E89 has BMW LA wheel star spoke 290 - 8Jx17 ET:29
Tyres are all 225/45x17.
I've looked on willtheyfit.com and see the wheels will be 17mm further in/out - the difference in ET.
Will this make a difference to the handling? Is 17mm enough to foul anything?
I know nothing about wheels!!!!!! Any help or guidance greatly received.

Well firstly welcome to the forum. 
The E89 wheels ought to fit your E85 OK. I put a set of E89 wheels on one of my E86s with no issues.
But E85 wheels on an E89 are more than likely going to rub on something, probably suspension. With a 17mm difference in offset you'd probably need spacers, 15mm minimum or 20mm to get them to fill the arches more.

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
