I was curious if anyone has increased the aspect ratio from 225/35 to 225/40 on 19" front wheels. I'm due new front tyres this month and I was thinking the 40s might give a little extra comfort on our pothole filled UK roads? Any up or downsides to the choice or is the change so small its basically irrelevant?
I replaced the rears before the winter and went from 255/30R19 to 255/35R19 and did notice a difference, but I also went from Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 4's(?) to 6's so it might just have been the updated tyre model.
Couldn't find anything useful in search btw

If you’ve gone with 255/35 19 on the rear then 225/40 19 on the front is a good choice..on E89s the stability control system doesn’t like significant imbalances in front / rear rolling radius ..(ideally less than 1.5-2%)…

Given that 40 profile appears on other tyres on E89s it not an issue in its own right..plus changes to much modern tyre designs probably swamp other issues..

Thanks, that puts my mind at ease. At £180 a tyre I didn't want to make a mistake by doing something dumb :D

Just as an update on this.
I had the 225/40 19 installed and there is a small but noticeable difference on some of the regular, rougher roads I drive on. I did go from Goodyear F1 asymmetric 5 to the newer F1 asymmetric 6 so it's not a like for like tyre swap but its pretty close. No signs of rubbing and i'm happy i went up 5 in the ratio.
