Upgraded dog transport - joining the N club

Post by M1k3yC » Fri Mar 01, 2024 12:13 pm

I managed a year with my Honda Jazz. It was objectively fantastic and I couldn't fault it, but I never really gelled with the driving experience. As I did most of my miles in it compared to my other cars, I decided to get something a bit more fun. I considered loads of options and ended up settling on a Hyundai Kona N. I would have loved an Audi S3 but the boot shape wasn't great for my greyhound - he would have had trouble comfortably standing up and moving around because he's so tall. The Kona looks big, but it's not very long - it's actually shorter than the 2016 M135i I used to have. It is a bit wider than that car and obviously taller. More importantly it has 276hp and goes like a stabbed rat with the DCT box and the right drive mode engaged. Loving it so far (and so is the dog)! :D :driving:

I like the fact you almost never see the N version on the road :)

I always used to confuse the Hyundai and Honda signs and now you park next to a Honda garage

We went through the same discussion as we had an Audi A3, then a Jeep and now the ID.3 all with the same reason - for our English Pointer to fit in. So many cars fall off due to the boot size.

Your car looks rather nice and with the engine, you will certainly have a flat dog against the rear window 8)

Are headlights an option? It doesn't seem to have any! :poke:
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Thanks for the positive feedback - I'm enjoying having something more fun to run the hound around in. I'm hoping to use it to go to places like Caffeine & Machine and take the dog with me.

:D As you probably guessed, it came from Honda. It was traded at the Kia dealership next door but Kia didn't want to forecourt it, apparently.

It's easy if you're happy with something enormous, but I still wanted a relatively modest sized vehicle. The Puma ST was a strong contender and is, on paper at least, a bit more practical. I've never had a Hyundai, though, so I fancied something a bit different.

The lights are a bit creative, I'll admit. The main headlights are the lower ones at the front and integrated into the sides of the bumper.

It's hard not to think of Conan when you read the badges on the back...

IRD, the colour is odd - it's actually Sonic Blue. Sometimes it looks quite blue, other times very light grey, and occasionally closer to purple/lilac. Which I don't really understand because it seems to be a normal paint finish. I quite like it, though.
