I’ve been looking for a new car for the Mrs for a number of months now and it seems the majority of private sellers are somewhat in denial about what’s happening with prices.

A large number of cars have been for sale for a very long time!

I’ve been looking specifically at E89’s, Audi TTs, and Fiat & Abarth spider 124’s …as this is what’s on her shopping list. Well, the TTS has dropped off now, and an E89 is now favourite.

It seems to me that there are many private buyers advertising at prices that are higher than the trade equivalent, in some cases a lot higher.

Also, there hasn’t been a single car that I’ve enquired about that hasn’t still been available :?

I’m not saying that’s the case with people listing on here, more auto trader / EBay / FB market place.

Quite right.
As someone who always has an eye open for the next project I am seeing many Z4s sitting untouched on various advertising platforms for weeks or even months.
Especially the illustrious 2.0 N46 E85s. Everyone wants top dollar purely based, it appears, on its insurability.

What I really cannot understand is how they are still unsold when they are all 'STUNNING'. (Bloody word should be banned!)

It should, along with ‘like new’ ‘first to see will buy’ ‘must be the best available’ ‘I searched for one this good for 2 yrs’ (selling after owning 3 months)

And… Full Service History :headbang:

COVID hysteria pricing and now not seeing the over supply and unwilling to see normal depreciation.

I bought my Z a year ago, probably overpaid then as well at 5.7 (up for 7 but had abs fault light which was in the end £20).

Most buyers will be wanting a straight sale mate, however it only takes one that fancies your Mrs in order to get a swap done.

I am noticing that more and more ads on eBay are using the AI “recommended” description and not even bothering to tell you anything about what they are selling that might be useful to know.

Yes, also scammers hacking accounts and placing classified car adds now, saw a couple of Z4’s earlier today that were blatant copies of autotrader adds for £000’s less and stupid low pricing.
