Not sure what has gone on during the last few months, but I now get post once a week instead of 6 days a week.

Normally that is not a problem and is even an advantage if potential speeding fines time out, but I am expecting Dutch tax documents which carry automatic fines for late payment. Unfortunately they are posted docs and there is no way of getting electronic copies for some reason.

Is this lack of post a national issue or Sussex only?

(Still getting Christmas cards as well)

Have the same in the flatlands of Lincs too mate. Random deliveries at random times of the week and day.
I have posted two things out in the last two weeks; neither got there! With stamps being so expensive, I'm giving up posting stuff by Royal Mail TBH.
I ordered something small from eBay two weeks ago. That was lost in the post aswell.

Seems like the Royal Mail have finally given up after all the coverage of the sub-postmaster scandal
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Speeding fine time limit is from date of issue, not date of receipt, so that won't help.
Abstinence is fine, in moderation.

See the postie every day walking past the house or doing the rounds when on my walks.

Must be only affecting the rural Southerners in their mansions :D I'm guessing the electric postie van can't make it that far

Nope, they have to be received within 14 days excluding date of offence using the standard delivery service which for first class is up to 2 days. Anything posted after day 13 and not received is automatically timed out (as they should have used guaranteed delivery service instead).

There is a standard letter posted on the RAC website that will cancel the NIP out.

It’s no good to me as the engine spat a con rod out of the block Wednesday morning but that’s a side issue….

“Side issue”

The savings account that I opened online had user details that could only be posted. The letter arrived after a month so the 14 days to put funds into the account had expired. Just surprised it is not a bigger news item as N4LLY said, it can have serious health impact if you miss results or appointments because of it.

Our post here seems to be okay. I heard on the national news that they were talking about reducing the delivery days to 4 possibly 3 deliveries a week to save money.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Post is no daily here in Shropshire (in town not countryside). Most days yes but not all. To be fair, the volume of post has massively decreased over the last 15 years so not surprising.

This was part of the strike action last year, to stop the reduced service. I guess no one cares until it actually has a material impact on them.

There is a bit of a grey area on the 14 day rule by the looks of it.

"REASONABLE' EXPECTATION
The law considers what would have been a 'reasonable' time for the NIP to arrive. If it's deemed that the NIP could reasonably have been expected to arrive within the 14-day period based on the date it was posted, then it may still be valid, even if it arrives late.

Understanding these nuances is crucial if you're considering challenging a speeding ticket based on the 14-day rule. While the rule offers a potential avenue for avoiding a fine or penalty of points on your licence, it's not a guaranteed escape route and comes with its own set of complexities, limitations and costs implications to challenge before court."
