Hi had my Z4 5 years now and it's done 69k. Only use it occasionally.
Last couple of weeks the engine has been misfiring from start up but soon disappears once warm. so booked in for service on 23rd January.
Went out on Monday and engine misfiring and loads of smoke, called AA they did diagnosis said coil number 6 changed it and didn't make any difference, took out spark plug and had fuel on it. He put old coil back in. He followed me home but white smoke all the way and not driving well.
Now stuck on my drive. He said it maybe the injector.
Need to get fixed but not sure where.to go as don't want to get ripped off, live in Derby and will need to get transporter as I don't won't to drive it.
Any ideas on problem and cost?

Could be injector no 6 has gone south..without access to a decent bmw specific faint code reader we are all guessing..
So you need a decent bmw specific Indy ..

The injectors should be changed in banks of 3 and make sure they use the latest Index12

I think it’s only banks of 3 if replacing one with a different index number.

For clarity for the OP..
The injectors are regarded as two banks… cylinder 1-3 and 4-6
If replacing injector 6, the index level ievthe revision level on THAT bank have to be the same revision level…so if for example cylinder 6 injector is index 9 then in theory it needs to be replaced by an index 9..
If only index 12 is available then cylinders 4, 5 and 6 all need to be index 12..
Having said that mine had one index 12 in a sea of index 9’s..and seem to run ok..
I replaced all them with index 12’s.
I have some refurbished index 9s if you need one..
