E85 / E86 M and non M Diffusers

£240 including delivery to UK addresses

Some members may remember the air scoops and M “fang” protectors I made a few years back

I was contacted last year by Jingle, about making a diffuser for the e85/6 in a similar style to the Fancywide diffuser made in Russia. See below pictures:

So using an original (borrowed) Fancywide diffuser as a reference, we set about making our own version but with some changes we felt were better aesthetically and some essential ones for uk roads. The initial prototypes were laser cut from some scrap mild steel so that we could cheaply make changes and adjustments

The one small issue was that I no longer have a z4 and had no way of checking if the changes would work on the car. So Luke (sorry not sure of forum name) and Jingle, made the long drives from other parts of the country, to my workplace, so that we could test fit the diffuser and decide what worked and what didn’t and also what other changes they wanted

The diffuser is designed for an M bumper but we had a facelift 2.0 also, which the diffuser fitted also. It also had a quad exhaust with oversized exhaust tips. This is the only variable that will change from car to car. On a standard exhaust, some minor modifications to the diffuser may be needed. The modification wouldn’t be seen and could be done easily.

The original diffuser sticks out from the back of the rear bumper, like a 2” shelf protruding from the bumper. It was decided that might look good in a race car but didn’t look right on a road car. So the diffuser needed shortening by 2”

The fins were also too deep. With uk roads and speed bumps, it seemed obvious that these would catch and be damaged fairly quickly. So the fins are 2” shorter and 1” shallower, in comparison to the original.

There was also a small, outside fin, that we decided looked too small, so we replicated it but made it much deeper, so it would actually be visible.

So after months of messages and meets and changes etc, we settled on a diffuser that we felt would function on U.K. roads

Whether the diffuser performs any function at all, I admit to having no idea at all lol.

The diffusers are made from 1mm aluminium, laser cut into shape, they are then shaped using a press brake machine. We then send them off for powder coating to produce the finished item, as shown below

I enjoy doing stuff like this and Jingles/Lukes original idea was to make them a diffuser. We hadn’t planned on making lots of these but decided that due to all of the time and effort that went into making them, it would be a shame not to offer a few other people the opportunity.

The diffuser weighs 5kg all together but obviously this is spread over the width of the car.

I supply all of the fixings to put the actual diffuser together.

So I made 10 x sets and 3 x sets have been sold. The price for a complete set, including fixings and postage is £240.

Please send me a message if interested

Don’t know how people aren’t jumping all over this! If I still had my Z I’d snap this up in a heartbeat! Skyer did similar and is asking $800 for it!

Great work boys!

I am drawn towards this and I like the look but I would like some feedback from owners that have it fitted on how it performs or was it just for looks ? What effect does it have on the handling if any and does it help cool the diff or does it have the opposite effect ?

A good question and not one I have the answer to yet. It’s only Jingle that actually has his fitted afaik and I’m not sure he will have driven his enough to have any real feedback.

As more people hopefully fit them, we may get a better idea. But with no real way to measure any of these differences, it could be called a placebo effect

We’ve all seen similar fitted to race cars etc, so there must be some benefit to fitting one but being honest, we made them as purely an aesthetic add on.

I’ve looked on the fancywide website and they make no claims about performance increases, so I’m guessing that if there are any, they are purely coincidental

I remember talking with jingle about this and expressing my interest, I'd be ordering one right now if my zed hadn't just been written off 😢

Got my diffuser from Dan in the mail yesterday. Thought I'd upload some pictures of it for those who are still interested. Photos don't seem to do it justice; it looks fantastic in person, and somehow doesn't look out of place even with stock suspension.

I opted not to put the outer fins on just yet, so that is why they are missing from my images compared to the images Dan provided.

Great to see you got it ok and it looks brilliant, in my biased opinion.

It is hard to get decent photos of it off the car, let alone fitted. Probably because it’s black but does look good in person

3 inch. I don't think dual 4 inch exhaust tips would fit in the bumper.
