A wee change after 3 Z4's in the last 5 years.

Post by peeblezZ4 » Thu Nov 16, 2023 9:02 pm

After my 35i headed off to Sheffield last month to a nice new owner I decided to buy this to try something a little different. It's a 2012 640i SE with an 8sp auto box. Standard factory BHP is about 320. Obviously a bit more lardy than the Z4 but a nice drive all the same.

Very nice, I've always had a soft spot for a 6 series

Looks very nice indeed. I love the shape and I bet it’s a bit more comfortable than the Z. You’ve got to try these things.

Lovely, I've always liked the 6 Series.

But I'm not ready to end Z4 ownership yet!

I very, very nearly bought a 640 se vert a couple of years ago. Only reason I didn't is cos the RAC inspection on it wasn't good, then I changed my mind.
Still want an M6 in Sakhir Orange TBH, but the running costs are enormous!

Prettiest car BMW have made for many years IMO.

I think it’s an honorary Z4…stretched…… :tumbleweed:

Maybe Z4L…as per Audi A8L…
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

I think you have a point there Peter!

I've thought I've seen a G29 a few times, only to discover it's a 6 Series.

Because the 6 series were the equivalent of the MB 'S class', ie their 'flagship model', they put all the latest tech in them years before the rest of the range got it. HUD, soft close doors, LED headlights and full LED rears, i drive 5, full comfort access...etc, etc. First car in the 'F series range', at least 3 years before all the others (apart from the 7 but that was a 6 saloon).

Great VFM used as well, especially as the SE isn't as popular as the M-sport. The 650 engine is not the best, though, with it's 'hot V8' and both turbos sat in all the heat. Makes the N54 look like a reliable engine!
