Newbie intro

Post by PJRHIGH » Sun Nov 12, 2023 12:08 pm

Hi all,

Just a quick hello.

Relatively new to the Z4 gang, couple months now.

Bought this 2005 2.5 SE - 106000 miles. Done some of the usual maintenance - rocker head gasket, DISA valve.

Recently added an under seat subwoofer, basic speaker setup and has improved the low end, decent cheap option.

Now onto having purchased some non-heated sports seats I am putting aftermarket head pads in and trying to wire up to the existing heated seat buttons. Next will be a new set of wheels next year - would welcome any views on what size to go for without having too crashy a ride - car had M-sports suspension from factory.

So far - LOVE the car, plan to keep her for a good while!

Welcome aboard.
The man to talk to about retro fitting seats is Rob (Usel), though when you see the E89 ones he fits into E85s you may decide to up your budget.

You currently have the smallest (16”) wheels, so any change in wheels to 17”, 18” or 19” is not going to improve the ride as you’ll have to trade less rubber. However, it looks like you still have Potenza tyres, which were the OEM run flats. Changing these for any decent non-run flat (or even some run-flats) will be the biggest ride improvement decision you can make.

Hi and welcome to the forum, great looking car in a great colour. 18” wheels seem to be a good compromise between looks and comfort, at the moment Halfords and kwikfit have Goodyear f1 asymmetric 6 for 10% off for 2 tyres
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.
