Someone been asking about getting roof out of boot if it fails.
Problem is unlatching boot to lift it back.
Once pressure is dumped would it be possible to pull back the lid cylinders to unlock the lid, say with a pre made rod.
I have seen the BMW method reaching in with a rod, not sure what they are doing in the diagrams.

Did he scan for codes? Is the convertible top buttons blinking and bonging?
Though, if he can get access to a scan tool or ISTA he can open the boot that way... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q52HtkK6mU

No fault, was just asking what to do if roof fails and can't lift the boot lid.
It has a overtravel lock.
If pressure dumped it might be possible to force the overtravel to unlock then the boot lid manually lifted.
The boot lid is locked down to stop a rear end accident sending the lid forward to take your head off.
So tool required T bar, could get away not using the other tool if happy to drive with rear glass unlocked.
Tools; Job; What does the end of the T bar look like?

So it’s a rod that you poke the over lock cam?
Wonder how long and what acceptable diameter is ?

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I wonder what's on the end, square, hex. blade, flat, round?
Diameter......length of threaded rod could be made with handle bolted on.
I thought it might be more hook like to latch onto something and pull.
I would have thought it easier to hook something towards end of the cylinder rod and pull back. Diagram shows arrow of rotation.
I assume this method above stops you damaging the roof if in boot.

I got the tool from Turner Motorsport in the USA for $27, but it took several weeks to appear. You can use this bmw special tools chart I stole from another forum to translate special tool numbers to more easily searchable part numbers.
