So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

A very dubious advantage!

Only on a private road or the Autobahn, though! :D :P
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

I wish!

Old but still still game for a 140+ Autobahn blast each year - it would be rude not to!

The licence is renewed every third year with a self declaration of fitness.

Is that correct?
It is if you do it on line but you lose the over 3.500kg licence. If you want to keep it you have to do it by post, and get a doctors certificate to say you are medically fit, and probably pay for this certificate every 3 years. :headbang:

When I was 70 I decided not to go down this route as I could not see a need for the over 3500kg having never used it for years !
I think the restriction also applies to an over 15 (?) seater mini bus but I can’t foresee me needing that facility either!

Having read the replies on here I’ve decided to not worry about it, it seems that you can’t drive them after 70 anyway.

Take a driving test in one. If you pass you can then drive them at any age.

Where is your sense of adventure?

I've rented 7.5 tonners a few times when moving houses and loved them. You even get to play chicken with cocky bus drivers!

I don't mind paying a few quid to keep my "old gits entitlement" as I'm not aware of being a grandfather.
Coupes because stunning!

Curious on this pvr, are you saying that you were given D, D+E C and C+E as well as a track laying vehicle to go with your gun licence? :D
