Petrol prices have shot up again!

The rise in petrol prices will increase inflation for August and more importantly September. It's the September figure that determines pension increases for next year. A higher figure will cost the Govt millions extra in pension payments.

As a pensioner must declare an interest and not complaining if inflation increases a little over the next month. :)
At this rate of increase we will be taxed soon on our state pension :x

Break the cycle of strikes first, public transport will never be viable on the rediculous salaries that are paid there.

The Government did intimate that there was evidence of collusion between retailers and was talking about enforcing mandatory publishing of forecourt pricing, let’s hope that happens soon
Opec have done their old trick of increasing costs by reducing production (again).

There has been a free app available for years showing all up-to-date fuel prices at every local garage in a given radius. Our wonderful Government are now making out as if they are doing something constructive and new by 'forcing' fuel retailers to advertise their prices. Then they are making out they being generous by 'freezing' fuel tax again, so losing out on millions to the treasury. They are not 'losing' anything; every time there is an increase they get more tax, as it's a percentage.

Profiteering is EVERYWHERE at the minute. If you think any Government (Tory or Labour) are able, or willing, to do anything then I am afraid you are deluded. Even if they wanted to, the profiteering companies are much, much more savvy than any Government f*ckwits.
Profiteering is almost impossible to prove if you have good accountants. Making massive profits is absolutely fine but profiteering is illegal. How the hell does anyone differentiate between the two in a 'free market' economy?

Gone up 3ppl at my local Sainsbury's but they haven loads of competition, Morrisons and 2 private garages close by, keeps the price down for certain.

Two other Sainsbury's that are with about 8 miles of my local one are at least 7ppl more expensive and guess what no completion close by, pure profiteering clear as day

What I can never understand is why there are often huge differences in prices at garages only a few miles apart. :?

I was staying with a friend in Cheshire for a couple of days after Zedfest and I used the Applegreen garage in Frodsham on Sunday as it's always the cheapest around and their Regular fuel was £1.489 (although I put their E5 in my Z). The Shell in Halton was £1.509!

Then on Monday we went over the bridge to Widnes and Morrisons Regular was £1.387 with Tesco at £1.389.

It just doesn't seem to make sense to me. :?

It wouldn't have helped me much though as I would have had to pay the charge for the bridge. :(
Coupes because stunning!

I have two Esso garages within a mile of me, One is an Esso only garage and the other has a Morrisons Mini Mart on the site.

They are about 100 yards apart and prices can differ by 4p per litre
