Manual gearbox - OK for lanky people?

Post by diceyDC » Wed May 31, 2023 3:42 pm

Me again, that bloke who's about to buy a E89 Z4...I've only sat in an auto, but just had a nice manual float across my sights - however, I have read (somewhere) that there may be a legroom issue with the manual, is that true?
I'm 6'2" if that lets me compare with any of you good folk out there....

Any and all thoughts appreciated

Not heard of legroom problems; headroom for you giants maybe!
I am only 5'10" but have the driver's seat miles forward in a manual E89.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!

Thanks Pondrew, very good to know. I was hilariously thinking about an MX5 btw at one point, until a vivid image of Mario Kart appeared!

Don’t mind me, I just have a lot of senior moments, also known for the odd social hand grenade too.

I’m also 6 2, I would say the space is big enough - but only just.

6 3 would be too cramped IMHO.

All depends on the mix of legs / torso. Take one out for an hour & see if it fits.

Im 6 2 as well and its ok.
Worst thing I think is the position of the gearstick, it seems a little awkward to me changing into 2,4,6 gears. I have long arms.
