Help Please! Recommendations for vehicle transport

Post by Pondrew » Wed May 31, 2023 1:26 pm

Hi,
I have been let down at the last moment by a car collection guy who was supposed to pick a car up for me today.
Does anyone have a recommended and reliable transport company anywhere between Glossop ish and south Lincs (so most of the north midlands) ish?
The guy I have used previously has retired and another local guy did not return my calls.

I have a car waiting to be collected, insured by me, with no-one to get it.

I would rather not use shiply, as don't know who I will get. But may have to at this rate. Any suggestions gratefully received.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Spoke to Mark but he can't do anything for another two weeks!

Looks like it has to be Shiply! :x

Honestly I would go and get it myself. Went up to Sheffield from South Devon on the train to get mine and drove it back. Met the seller, nice chap and had a very enjoyable trip back. Also you don't have to trust some nutter tailgating everyone.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

What a nightmare:
Idiot just doesn't turn up and won't answer calls or texts.
Another doesn't answer calls or call back; ever!
Another was really helpful but can't do anything for 2 weeks!
Another worked out I was in trouble so wanted stupid money to get it! I've used him before aswell.
Then we go to shiply:
Three can't do the job as the car is too low to get on their trailers (it's not a Lambo, it's a hatchback)!
One said they could do it if a forklift was available at both ends!! :o :o God knows what he was thinking!

So I'm going to go and get it myself! Too much aggro dealing with other people!

Try this guy, his name is Simon and he collected my Z4M from Kent and took it to North Yorkshire for me with no issues.

Thanks mate, but I'm sorted now. I have (hopefully) sorted a decent guy on shiply, eventually.
The wife was going to take me but she was not keen on driving back on her own (especially as she feckin hates the car I've bought)! :o

I don't really do public transport, especially from here to Glossop. Think it would be quicker to walk.

Oh my god Pondrew, you seem to make everything so difficult. :headbang: How about a taxi to the seller. How much would that cost factoring in the fuel driving home compared to some unknown bloke driving your new car making a detour through McDonald’s drive through for lunch

Trailer Mikey. It's not going to be driven! :)
Part of the appeal for delivery. Not putting 150 miles on it to get it home. I have a bit of an issue with mileage.
And I didn't make it difficult, the other feckin idiots did by being complete cockwombles :headbang:
