I guess this leak is accompanied by a drop in the level in the expansion tank?

Stuart , sounds like a split/crack somewhere ...expanding and sealing its self when hot and then opens up when cold and leaks ...?

Coolant leak- I'm flummoxed
Looks like all the original work Stuart did had solved the problem on my car. The first leak left a pool of what was obviously coolant. When I spotted a pool in a similar place I assumed it to be the same thing. I didn’t consider that it might be from the aircon.
As j3nks 79 suggested I took the car out this morning without switching the aircon on.
Needless to say the garage floor is bone dry. I will keep an eye on the situation but it looks as if it was simply condensation.
As usual Stuart has done a first rate job and has been very patient.
My apologies for wasting the time of those Forum members who replied to his post on my behalf.
I should have thought it through more carefully. I have been trying to think of an acceptable excuse but all I can put it down to is age and stupidity.
