A bumper beyond repair!

Post by skmattwell » Fri May 12, 2023 12:06 am

I'm after a pre-facelift bumper that is beyond repair. Any colour , just need to be pre-facelift. Before you throw it away, make some money off it! I essentially just need a couple small sections sawn off it to plastic weld onto another bumper. These sections are shown in the photo.

Happy for the entire bumper to be sent or the seller sawing off these sections and posting.

Unfortunately so, the facelift ones have a reflector in the corner that's missing

I'd agree with Jock

Are you going to fibre glass the inside to help reinforce it?

Have put some epoxy and some metal meshing on the back side now. Sanding down the excess epoxy from the front today :)

Will go over it with filler over the weekend to hopefully get a nice smooth finish. Will eventually be resprayed sterling grey if all goes well

I was watching Ratarossa on YouTube repairing his bumpers the other day thinking of your bumper.

As you have reinforced it with mesh then it should be a good strong repair.

Good luck

Thanks for the encouragement everyone, it's my first time doing anything like this. Just following advice from youtube!

This is what the inside looks like after hot staples, two layers of epoxy, wire mesh and fibreglass for good measure. Bit messy but hopefully it's enough to withstand London's terrible roads.

Looks like a Pro-job to me

P.S it's meant to be messy, helps with strength :D

Well I've done all I can with it now. Bit of filler and second layer of fibreglass on the back. Will do a test fit either tomorrow or sunday. If it fits, I'll be looking for a garage willing to repaint it. I'm keeping everything crossed!
