Hi all,
Before I say hello, I want to say thank you! The advice help and support I have received from the forum so far has been superb!
My name is Russ and I’m a petrol head that lost my way in the corporate world of new vanilla mile munching boxes.
My previous car journey started with a Nova SR, Escort RS Turbo then led to countless Type-R’s and S2000’s, I did actually have an E86 in green as a demo when I was working at BMW.
My MK8 GTD got written off last month and not doing so many miles nowadays, I thought it was time to buy something that I wanted.
What I wanted was a project, something I could spend my time in the garage playing with. I have always loved the e86 so that is where I started. I looked at a lot, learned a lot, and then found the right one.
It's a 2007 Manual Silver Grey Coupe with 140,000. Initially, I was concerned about the mileage but the forum soon put me at ease. As a result of having a few miles, it’s had the clutch done, abs, water pump, and washers all done. The bodywork is good and the interior is really very good.
My initial plan is to get the seals and gaskets done, the current wheels done, discs and pads sorted. I have a passion for detailing and will get the car looking good and then enjoy.
The longer term is suspension, wheels and tires, and all the little bits of bodywork. I plan for OEM+, but immaculate. I also plan to do a few track days and a trip to the ring.
Thanks again for all the help and support. I’ll add more pics when I have done a deep clean this weekend.
Russ
