Help me identify this part ?

Post by Z4Mariner » Mon Apr 24, 2023 11:42 pm

I found this on the floor of my garage after replacing rear springs and shocks on my Coupe. For that job I removed all of the rear boot trim. I figure there are three main possibilities: 1) It's a drain fitting that actually goes into my Z4C boot area (I will look at RealOEM, but that's not sure-fire); 2) It's a drain fitting in the wheel well to my car, and I managed to bump it without without noticing; and 3) It snuck away from my bag of random car parts - which was in the area because I needed to replace one of the interior trim clips . . . . .

Thanks in advance. :D

That's an interesting one! So it has a hole through the middle of that piece, like a drain? :o

Yes, it's about 45mm long, and the tube has an internal, molded one-way valve design at the narrow end of the tube. I'm leaning toward it being a left-over from something else. The boot interior trim has an indent on each side behind the rear wheel wells - if it was in one of those, I would not have noticed the black-on-black until I pulled the trim and dumped it onto the garage floor. I could not find anything remotely close in RealOEM.

Absolute pure guess but maybe some kind of rubber insert from the radio antenna? To stop rainwater entering the boot (trunk)

Doesn't look massively important anyway

Thanks all - I'll do one more quick look (especially at antenna) and if no match I'll let it be.

I had my ZMC on the lift and I searched for this part, but did not find it. Must be there someplace where you had things apart... :headbang:
