Some time back we had a liquid yellow one of these. A great little car, a real hoot to drive apart from the terrible ride quality thanks to those dreaded runflats! I am sure your daughter will enjoy it.

She hasn't passed her test so it is purely for accompanied experience ATM. She is having paid for (fecking expensive) lessons aswell.

Thanks Nictrix. Useful to know.
The engine is very 'ticky' at standstill. I thought it sounded tappety but from a bit of googling it may be the fuel rail and just inherent for the engine. Not sure yet.

It needs one front tyre desperately (so it will be two) and all the brake discs have seen much better days. The a/c is short of gas (I can't even sort it myself as don't keep refrigerant anymore which is annoying).

It needs a new aerial, I think it was a 'whippy' from what I have seen online! :o ATM it has a 4mm or 6mm piece of stud sticking out of the base. Oh and one of the keyfobs has a dead battery. I'm hoping using it in the ignition may bring it back to life.

I will start to have a good look hopefully tomorrow PM. I just hope it's not a dog, mechanically. I've seen many that are!
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Just remembered it developed a slight oil leak from a crank seal that ruined the clutch.
Engine out job to replace the clutch after removing pretty much the whole front end.

Sounds like they’ve kept their well known British ‘reliability’
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.

We have a black 2009 R56. Had it for four years with no real problem except the dipstick is a nightmare to read. Which is a problem as she never makes it to an oil change without the need to top it up. Great car to use in the town. Occasionally I wash it.

A little update on this for anyone interested;
Had it over 3 weeks and my daughter hasn't been able to drive it yet! :o
I took it to have two new front tyres (knew one needed changing) and found both front wheels buckled pretty badly.
I took it to another garage for them to get the two rear locking wheel bolts off as the key didn't fit either of them.
Got the rear wheels off eventually and found one buckled and the other cracked in three places AND buckled.
Had to buy three new wheel bolts to replace the two locking ones and there was one missing!
I took it to yet another tyre garage with a wheel straightener to see if they could help. They could straighten 3 wheels but not the cracked one obviously.
I bought a replacement used wheel from a chap off eBay. That took over a week to arrive, luckily it is round and in quite good nick.
Took it back and had three wheels straightened and two new rear tyres, as the rears were so old they had cracks all over them.
Got it back yesterday and now have to fit new pads and discs all round, as they are all knackered.
I also ordered all the brakes twice from Autodoc, as their website had a brain fart just as I finished my order! Got to send one lot back to Germany and wait for a refund.

Not the best car I've ever bought so far. It is no longer a 'cheap' first car!

Oh and bought a 'whippy' aerial for it, which is great!
