Out of the Cayman and into...
A 981 boxster.. As great a car the 987.2 Cayman was it just wasn't quite doing it for me. Too focused, a little to small, certainly in the cabin which also felt just a little bit dated.. Sold it privately for a small profit which was nice to a 21 year old lad from the Midlands who absolutely loved the car from the second he saw it so I'm glad it's gone to someone that will love it and fair play to him for having something like that at his age
So... The boxster is everything the Cayman wasn't (to me) much more spacious and modern cabin and a physically bigger car, a soft top and just feels like a much more playful car, I decided I'd go for the pdk this time and it is a joy especially coupled with the Porsche sport exhaust which sounds unbelievable, after test driving one with the system it literally became the only real option that was non negotiable, it is audible exotica, has a great spec of extended leather, sports exhaust, sound system plus. mfsw, touchscreen nav, front and rear park assist, heated sports seats, cruise and lots of other bits.. Only thing it is really missing is a big ol set of 20s a lot of them run but I'll look into updating the wheels next year when my finances recover a bit
Ive been running it about 10 days now and absolutely love the car.. Never really got this buzz with the Cayman, it's an absolute hoot to drive, sounds a million dollars banging up and down the gears, fast, handles lovely, not quite as tight and flat in the corners as the a Cayman but not far behind and puts a smile on my face whether just cruising with the roof down or gunning it on a nice twisty.. I know they're not as pretty as the Caymans but for me this a much better car.. Proper chuffed

Congratulations, a stunning looking car and guards red is such an iconic Porsche colour.
As a matter of interest did you test drive a 987 Boxster when searching for your Porsches? My budget will be somewhere between a low mileage 987.2 Boxster S and a 50,000 miles 981 Boxster.

I didn't buddy, Im not really a fan of the looks of the 987 boxster which was why I jumped in the Cayman.. Id say the more modern interior of the 981 is a huge step up though on the 987, as well the taughter chassis and all new engines making the 981 an altogether better buy.. If you want the extra power though I guess the 987S makes some sense.. Im sure once you have test driven both it will be an easy an easy choice.. Stunning looking car. I had a Cayman for awhile but always wished I had bought the Boxster. I really missed the soft top.

Its certainly quicker in pdk form than the 2.9 manual, super smooth through the gears, it's a fraction down on torque which is noticible when asking for power from low revs, though it will kick down 2 or even 3 gears though if you floor it and it's back up in its peak power range very very quickly, they have done a good job of getting I think it's an extra 4bhp? whilst dropping 200cc, It's a fabulous engine that loves to rev.. Its a lot of funhopz121 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 8:42 pmHow do you find the 2.7 DFI vs the old 2.9 one you had mate?mr.tourette wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 8:34 pmNope just a base but it's plenty pokey enough for shits n giggles

Glad to hear it, never driven the 2.7 but it sounds like another cracking Porsche engine.
Looking forward to ten future updates on this

You're getting as bad as me and True Blue (although he is more Zed focussed) with frequency now.
I have a friend who had a a 981 boxster. He then changed it for a 997 as a 'natural progression'. He now has an M4 comp. He is looking to get another Boxster, as says it is by far the best of the three.

Thanks for your response and look forward to future updates on how you’re getting on with the 981.mr.tourette wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 8:43 pmI didn't buddy, Im not really a fan of the looks of the 987 boxster which was why I jumped in the Cayman.. Hehe, a corvette will definitely be on the cards one day.. I actually did go see one but it wasn't going to be "the one" tried an sl400 too but it felt a bit too grown up for me although an absolutely fantastic package, it was almost too good and possibly lacked a bit of characterPondrew wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 9:15 pm Corvette next......

Some people just like convertibles, I suppose.
I have come to the conclusion I'm not that camp.
Sorry, edit: "not in that camp"
