Disabling seat belt warning
So maybe someone technical can answer this one.
I’m thinking of disabling the seatbelt warning. Yes I know I should wear a seatbelt and I always do, but occasionally I drive around d the block to the shops and the warning does my head in.
Question is, if I disable it for both drivers and passenger side is there a danger the car won’t deploy airbags even when seatbelts are on as the car will think the seat is empty?

It may take it into account with how it deploys the airbags (being 2 stage things) but it should always deploy them. Earlier cars (E46s) came without the warning enabled by default.
I think it only became mandatory from a manufactures point of view when NCAP decreed it.
They do sell fake seat belt buckles that you can use to shove in the latch. Or latch the belt and sit on it (which I do when harrowing the field on the X5.)

I suspect it’s just a warning and it will still know if the seatbelt is fastened. Just looking for confirmation.

It has no affect on safety systems as the G29 uses sensors in the seats to determine occupancy..
Obviously the systems in and around the seat belts won’t help you if you have a bad prang..

What do you mean by the last bit?
Surely if you fasten the seatbelt the g29 systems would work the same regardless of warning systems being disabled.
My question is if the warning is disabled and the seatbelt is fastened will every safety system work the same?

Yes, the warning is just a warning. The seat sensors still report occupancy the same.

All the systems in and around tensioning and pretensioning the seat belts won’t work…

Sorry Ori, but are you aware that most accidents occur within 3 miles of someone's home? Don't tell strangers that you sometimes don't wear the seatbelt, it is a wee bit irresponsible. Sorry if I sound prudish, but they do save lives and minor and serious injury.

Sometimes you have shopping to carry back.
It’s also because I sometimes have to move the car around the car park, but irrelevant….not turning off any safety features as the tensioners won’t work so no thanks.
It literally was for that once a month.

I think you can code the car so that it won't give you audiable warning when not wear seat belt. Such coding just disable the warning sound but not the passenger detection, therefore, the car can still detect whether there is any passenger and deploy airbag as it should.
if you want, I can test the coding on my car. But, I won't be able to test the airbag.

Hate to say this, but the easiest way to disable the warning is,,,,, to put your seatbelt on...
