Wheels New Colour - Poll
The time is coming to think about getting my wheels refurbed due to some minor damage. These are the options I am looking at and I think I know which one I prefer but it will interesting to see what you all think. I've had someone handy with photoshop do some mockups to see how they might look:
Original: Red and black. This will be candy apple red and satin black: Gold:

Out of the three, got to be silver. The black and red....well.....looks a bit 'chavvy' and the gold always looks 'Impreza wannabe' IMO. There are very few cars which suit gold wheels and the E89 ain't one of 'em!
Or change the wheels for some nicer ones..

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.
F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried

I agree with Pondrew. Silver all the way . I think black wheel's have had their day, they look very out of place on a the e89. My first impression of the gold wheels were the same as Pondrew's again, very scooby I'm afraid.

TBO those wheels only work as silver, although the gold doesn’t look too bad I suppose. But I would have silver, I’m not that keen on dark cars with dark wheels anyway. it’s quite annoying really because I seem to keep agreeing with Pondrew on everything
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Silver, definitely. Goes best with the bright spots from the brake rotors, rear and headlights.

Silver, but gold if they were a different, less detailed type of wheel.

of the three options, silver. but perhaps a slightly darker shade like shadow chrome could work.

If you must refurbish them then Silver, but I’d be looking to replace them instead… they will be expensive to refurbish properly as they’re split rims.

I might well do that at some point but probably when my tyres are worn out as if I change the wheels I think I'd probably go up a size to 19". I am quite surprised how much thread is left on these Goodyears after around 20,000 miles.
I have been quoted 400€ for all four. That is to remove from the tyres take apart the two pieces and paint, powder coating would be a little more. Not bothered about powder coating as the weather here isn't bad and I'd probably redo them or change them in a few years anyway.
That is another consideration. Could go shadow chrome or gunmetal centre and polished outer lip.brillomaster wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 8:25 am of the three options, silver. but perhaps a slightly darker shade like shadow chrome could work.
It's just to see other's viewpoint.
