I'd be amazed if True-Blue doesn't have a 35is soon!

After a couple of E86s it was pretty much inevitable I'd end up with an MC.

I think I’ve paid US$38K for mine with approx
35K miles in November 2020, before the chip shortage hit us and used car prices skyrocketed.

This one looks nice from the outside. Definitely worth a closer look.

Yup prices are mad.

I paid £24k in January fir mine, but had the full bumper to bumper BMW approved warranty. 33k miles.

Back in 2014 I sold my previous 35is, 1 owner, 15k miles, 2.5 years old (fully loaded) for £20k

$20k for mine with 80k miles.. Knowing I'd be putting $10k into N54 renewal and upgrades... That Orange Crush is a steal.

Prices in the UK are nothing like in the US, though.

£26k for a late, low mileage 35is is mental IMHO.
Another one for sale, 2015 with 17k miles is up for £25.5k. WBAC quote is £17.5k. Motorway are looking at £18k. So in my book it's worth £22k max from a dealer. That's £18k trade plus £4k dealer profit. Any more is too much (but it's not the only car being offered for way too much money ATM).

When my car was almost three years old and showing circa 9k - (2019) the Dealership offered me ) £19k at the end of 2022 he offered me £22k

He wanted my car and £38k to change

I can just imagine his advertisement

For Sale:-
Low miles, one elderly gent owner, serviced by us
Cost:- £ Arm and a Leg

I don’t think I was going to get another £38k of extra joy out of the deal.

I liked my previous DSB but really wanted a Red when I ordered mine in Aug 2016. As this was at the end of the run - I only had Hobsons choice - so mineral Grey it is!

I suppose that very lack of choice in the market then is reflected again now. I got the car mechanical spec I wanted but not maybe my first colour choice.

It would seem your choice may be further limited by the number of cars in circulation ( if this web page is to be trusted)

Nothing that a few rolls of wrap cannot solve. It doesn’t even have to be the same colour all around.

I wouldn't go on what WBAC and Motorway quote, quite often cars go for way more money than that in the trade. WBAC and Motorway offer the amount they do because you are going to them to sell, they are not actively sourcing cars for stock.

When I bought mine at auction I ended paying around £2000 over book. Back in the day when I was trading I regularly saw dealers paying way over book to get stock that they needed and this included BMW main dealers too. I used to do the same too, if I needed a car for stock or for a customer's order I would pay over the top but if I had someone come to me with a trade in and I wasn't particularly fussed about that car I would offer them a low price, if they accepted great and if they didn't no bother.

Independent traders would probably work on 2 to 4k margin but main dealers, they are on a different planet. I once sold a 3 year old E46 328i (overaged stock for me) to a BMW dealer for around 10K they had it up on their forecourt for around 17k and they literally had nothing to do to the car as I already prepped it for sale!

WBAC et al are giving the absolute bare minimum price for desperate sellers - it's not a market price.

Their model is to offer low end of the auction range, minus 10%. It's how they make money on every car they take in.

So even average auction sale would net you maybe 15% above the WBAC offer.

So if a car gets a WBAC offer of £17.5k, they are using an auction valuation of £19.25 - £22.75k as the basis. Private sale 1-2K higher than that, retail inc warranty another 2k on top.

Dealer margins once you take into account purchase price / VAT / prep for retail / warranty costs / after sales costs (whatever the bring back rate is) are not what you think they are.

Yes they make money. It's nothing like £4k profit on a typical 35i, more like £1k.
