Z4 battery change any problems after?
Hi everyone, this is my first time posting. I have a 2005 2.2 z4 with a flat battery. I have jump started it via engine bay and took it for a drive yesterday. Today it wont start again but it does have 12.5 volts in the battery. I want to change the battery but I have heard it can mess up electrics. Does anyone have any experience of this. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum.
If you remove the battery and fit a new one it will have very little difference to letting your current one go flat.
You will have to reset the clock and you 'may' find your windows lose their settings. Check by opening the door and see if they still drop a little.
If not then to reset them:
1. Use the drivers door switches.
2. Wind the drivers window down and when it gets to the bottom press and release the down switch 4 times within 10 seconds.
3. Wind the drivers window up and when it gets to the top press and release the up switch 4 times within 10 seconds.
4. Open the door and check the glass drops slightly.
5. Still using the drivers door switches, do the same for the passenger window.
If you don't do the reset then the roof may not work as it doesn't know where the windows are.
Apart from that all should be good.

Hi just fitted my new battery. No issues with any electrical problems thanks to enuff_zed tip on how to ensuring windows and hood worked correctly. Took it for a spin great to be back on the road again

I found this oddity after changing seats in wifey's car. Nice day, so roof down first to make it easier.
All finished, dark clouds looming and the damn roof wouldn't go up!
Took me a while to work that one out.

Interesting as I had the battery disconnected yesterday when I took the seats out, I had to reset the windows and did it the following way:
- All the way down, hold it there for 3 seconds
- All the way up, hold it there for 3 seconds
Job done.
Funny how different ways work though.
