Update:
Hi everyone,

The car, with the intake and exhaust, is now sold. It ended up going to someone via Autotrader.

The roof with its case is still available, so, please let me know if you are interested. I will mark this post as sold and setup a separate ad for the roof in the appropriate place on the forum.

Update:
Hi everyone, I am now looking into selling some of the bits and pieces separately to the car, and therefore also reducing the price of the car. Please let me know if you are interested in any of this

Roof (inc. case): New separate ad
Evolve intake: £400 (SOLD)
Strut brace: £200 (SOLD)
Exhaust system (X-pipe and back boxes): £650 (SOLD)
Car, without these bits: £14,950 (SOLD)

I am currently in the process of getting some of these bits taken off and have a couple of people who have PM'ed about one or two of the bits.

Summary:
High spec car including numerous extras (hardtop, soft cover, Evolve intake, H&S exhaust) in great condition, 73K miles, the car is in York. All four wheels just refreshed. Pics below and videos here:
Intake and exhaust sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avfePZHgyXQ
Pyrenees and Alps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NQ3PK1hNLo
JayEmm review of this car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7Di7gf48TA
I know not everyone enjoys JayEmms reviews, but I thought his notes on this particular car – as opposed to wider views on the car (which he happened to like a lot) – may help any prospective buyers.

Introduction:
Hi everyone,
I am a long term lurker and occasional poster on this forum. I have enjoyed buying and selling a Z4MR on here before, and sharing and reading lots of great posts from you all. Thank you for the great community.
I am sad to be selling my beloved Z4MR but hope it may find a great home with a forum member.
My first ever car was a Z4MR, which was bought the day after I passed my test, from someone on this forum. Sadly, my first Z4MR met another car on a roundabout. That car is now fixed and enjoyed by another forum member, but it was so good that I got another one to replace it – which is the one you see here.
I have loved every minute with it over the last 7 years (and the couple of years with my first one), and have lots of fond memories – some of which you can see in the videos above. But the time has come to sell. I am lucky enough to also own a Manual V10 R8 Spyder, which is great fun, and am looking to change the Z4MR for something more practical – possibly an M3 Convertible.
I have put the key details below and please let me know if you would like to know more. I live up in York and am happy to arrange views with serious buyers, including an accompanied drive if you have proof of insurance. The wheels are being refreshed over the next week or so, and so the car should be ready to go shortly.
Thank you for reading.
JT

Car: BMW Z4M, Roadster, high factory spec plus some extras
Colour: Interlagos Blue with black nappa leather interior
Year: 2006 car (December - 56 plate)
Mileage: ~73,000, FBMWSH

Factory fitted options:
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Heated seats
  • Cruise control
  • Sat-nav
  • 6-CD changer
  • BMW professional speaker system
  • Auto-dim mirrors
  • Extended storage
  • Wind deflector
  • Smokers Package
  • Carbon effect interior trim
  • Headlight Wash

Additional extras:
  • BMW Performance strut brace
  • BMW hard top shell, in Interlagos Blue, with cover
  • Z4MR fabric cover (blue)
  • Evolve automotive intake (original BMW intake also included in sale)
  • Hayward and Scott exhaust (original BMW exhaust also included in sale)
  • Evolve automotive remap applied (in combination with the Evolve intake being installed, the car went from ~330bhp stock to ~350bhp, as measured on the day)
I think these mods add to the car to make it more raw and engaging.
The intake sounds great and paired with the map gives the car a bit more punch, particularly around 3k-4k revs.
The exhaust likewise sounds great, especially 3k-redline. You can hear it and the intake in the videos shared above. Full throttle with the roof down is an absolute blast! When I bought this car it had the BMW exhaust and I still had the H&S from my previous Z4MR. I found myself a bit underwhelmed by the stock exhaust and missing the H&S, so fitted it to this car.

Comes with:
  • 3 original keys
  • All original books, including hard top instructions booklet
  • Folder of receipts

Full BMW service history:
  • 1,264 miles, 21/05/07: Run-in service
  • 12,095 miles, 11/02/08: Oil service
  • 19,355 miles, 27/03/10: Inspection 1
  • 24,222 miles, 22/03/12: Oil service
  • 28,306 miles, 19/09/14: Inspection 2
  • 40,142 miles, 16/12/16: Oil service
  • 52,910 miles, 30/10/19: Inspection 1
  • 63,743 miles, 10/11/21: Oil service
  • Next service: due November 2023: Inspection 2
MOT until November 2023
5 owners, including me since 2015 / 28K miles

Condition:
In summary: in great condition for its age and mileage
  • All mechanical and electrical components working properly
  • I have had some respray work done during my ownership, to keep paint nice and sort out some minor scratches from car parks (grr). All done my a local car and bike restoration specialist. I use a dual-action polisher on it to keep it looking nice. None the less, there are small stone chips here and there, which is no surprise after 73K miles.
  • I have just had all four wheels refreshed (stripped, straightened, refinished)
  • The Interior is holding up surprisingly well. Naturally, some small scuffs here and there, but nothing major. I know many people don’t like infotainment screens on old cars, as the old tech ages the car. With the Z4MR I personally don’t find this an issue as the screen folds away. I don’t use the maps on it, but the screen is still useful for other things like music and various settings etc. So, I would rather have it than not.
  • Tyres are all Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and all fitted in November 2021.

Other stuff:
SORN’ed for about a year in 2017-2018, while I was living in San Francisco. Family kindly started it up and did a lap of the cul-de-sac every couple of weeks to keep things running and moving, and the car has continued to be great ever since. This is also why there is a three-year gap between services 2016-2019, as opposed to the normal two years that has otherwise been maintained.

Pricing rationale:
I would like a fair price for both the buyer and for me. I have compared my car vs. others on the market and have tried to balance the good condition, high spec and numerous valuable extras which I think make it a great package and rare opportunity, with the mileage and fact that this would be a private sale. Unfortunately, there was little interest at my original price, so I have dropped it and also split the car and the non-OEM bits, which I hope will help it find a buyer. It is also on Autotrader, less a forum discount of course.

Thanks for asking and yep, it's in the summary at the top. I have now also added it under the 'Pricing rationale' as well. I have also sometimes found the price hard to find in long posts!

Thank you, Worcester_spoon, inkey$ and paddy wright. Fingers crossed! Although I do absolutely love the thing, so it will be sad for it to go. Though I am sure I will have another Z4MR, in my lifetime :driving:

Hi everyone,

This is still for sale if anyone is interested. I have reduced the price by £500, from £17,750 to £17,250. I thought the original asking price was reasonable, given the condition and various extras, but perhaps I was overconfident.

I still love the car and would love to keep it, especially as the weather is getting nicer. But I need to swap it for something a bit more practical.

Hopefully it will find a lovely new home through the forum :D

Thanks for reading,
JT

Hi again everyone,

Two updates:

First, I have just reduced the price again, now to £16,750. Hopefully this will help find a buyer on the forum, for what I think is a great and well looked after car. I am also going to put it up on Autotrader and see how it goes there.

Second, I have just had all four alloy wheels refreshed ie. stripped, straightened and refinished. So it is looking better than ever.

I would love to find a buyer on the forum rather than AT or a dealer, so if you are interested then please do let me know. Or, if you have any thoughts on the car or the ad and anything I can do to help it, then please let me know.

Thanks all,
JT
