If anyone is thinking about moving to the mercedes SLK (especially the diesel one) then dont! Interior Build quality is much worse, and you have much less space, and lets be honest it doesn't look as good.
I moved to a z4 from one 3 years ago and it was the best car-decision I've made!

Don't know about anyone else but set my mind at ease now.

Coming from a line of older merc wagons i thought it would be a good move, but in fact no. The z4 saved my 2 seater dreams!

Well, you say that but for a while my daily was a 335d. Now that engine in my E89 would have been a hoot!

So much so that you are selling yours?
Strange thread as your first post was a 'for sale' ad of your 35is. :?

Maybe, but I'd still have preferred a 335i engine - BMW obviously thought that too.

I see how you arrived at that, and what an engine the 335d has BUT, there’s just something less enjoyable about a rattly diesel in a non-sound proofed, smaller chassis.
It also ruined the tyres way quicker than you’d like too!

Depends on so many things. How you drive and the type of roads. I don’t need a high horsepower motorway blaster in this neck of the woods. Maximum and huge amounts of torque at very low rpm is ideal here for getting past tractors, beet lorries and Sunday drivers in the very short straight bits.
However, the sound it makes does not suit a roadster

It would certainly light uo the rear tyres with all that torque and 2wd!

Agree about the non rattle. The 335D with the auto box and x Drive is a hoot at any traffic light Grand Prix and especially when its wet
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Call me shallow, but I bought our Z4 on it’s looks. Didn’t even know what a Z4 was… had owned M3 and (much newer) 325i before. Never contemplated an SLK. Always looks a bit, hmm, safe? Did do a bit of research to move up from a 20i to a 23i packed with toys. And black. Had to be black. I probably am old enough for a Mercedes but the inner child won’t let me (yet). Put Jag in that equation too. A :driving:
