G29 or F type?
I have seen bigger glove boxes.tomscott wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:09 am Ye I dont know, worth a test drive. I test drove the original 6 cylinder supercharged roaster and it was a hoot but the weight was really noticeable compared to my M it didn't feel anywhere near as engaging its also not that fast 5.5 to 60. The ride is better and the engine and noise is lovely but it is a GT not a sports car no doubt.
Problem with it being a GT is the boot was really small. It would be a struggle to pack for 2 people for a weekend away let alone a euro trip.
The build quality of the interior was really questionable for the price, lots of cheap creeky plastic.
I know slightly different comparison but the E85 boot is actually really big and you can fit a surprisingly large amount in it.

When I went to test drive the SL, there was a Porsche Boxster 718, fairly basic spec, a Jaguar F Type S and my eventual SL400 all around £40k. I spent some time in all of them, of the three the F Type was probably the prettiest but had the worst quality interior by far, a boot that was ridiculously small and impractical for my purposes. The Porsche was basic, had a few toys, but it was a lovely place to be and I was very tempted. The SL though was the one that I wanted, it just shouted you've arrived, I had more compliments and positive comments about it than any other car I've owned.
Seems pointless getting an G29 and keeping the 35iS, if you're going to get something different then how about a Cayman

Yes we've seen your thigh-length 'kinky boots'!
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

G29 or F type?
If I had an E89 35is I wouldn't be buying a G29 to go with it, just one or the other.
I think the F-Type looks great, especially the Coupe, although the boot does look tiny. I seem to remember Clarkson saying on Top Gear that a space-saver was an option, but if you had to use it you couldn't get the punctured one in the boot! But a supercharged V8 would be different enough to sit alongside an E89, although I really like the XK8 too.
But then I also have a bit of a hankering for a V8 Mustang as well! Which would certainly be a bit different.

Old man's car is a thing of the past nowadays Andy.....you're thinking back to the days of the xjs/xj6, etc, lol.Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 12:19 pmThat’s pretty much why Kathleen says we’ll never get one (minus the England shirt of course ) Every time I bring it up she says “No, it’s an old mans car”
My personal opinion of them is boot is tiny for us as we don’t travel light and interior finishing wasn’t great on the couple I did look at, on my own
The modern era Jags are more family SUV now.....and the F type is an excellent car to drive quickly.
Kathleen holds onto the purse strings then, haha?
Build quality is still not what it should be right enough, which is a pity.

I also had a hankering for the (RHD) V8 5L Mustang until I looked at one. They make Jag (and Dacia) build quality look positively regal. Typical American; great engines surrounded by utter dross.

The FType V8 is probably OK if you can live with the small boot avoid the 4 and 6 cyl Ingenium engine - questionable reliability, that aside Jaguar dealers are pretty poor.
Stick to a top line G29, unless you fancy a 911.

With me being a bit of a Ford fanboy I think that I could live with that though, and like Mr Tidy I would absolutely love to tick the 5.0 V8 Mustang box one day for sure.

It’s a shame we didn’t get the GT350, now that would be the Mustang I’d want to own

I had several Fords in the 80s/90s and really liked them. I only went off them when they stopped making RWD ones, which is a big part of the appeal of a RHD Mustang GT.LeeZ4MR wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 10:50 pm Pondrew wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 10:22 pm

After reading what people have said about Jaguar quality though I'd be more forgiving in a Ford!
