Folks,
I’m looking to ‘upgrade’ from my current E89 Z4 to a newer and current G29 model.
Quite happy with the look and performance etc so just getting into the finer details of what I need.
One fundamental question I have is in connection with carplay.
Can someone confirm is wireless carplay standard on this iteration of the z4?
If not, is there a year or pack I need to be looking out for to ensure wireless carplay is in place.
I’m trying to avoid the nightmare of post-market upgrades, wires trailing from phone etc.
I have been to see a Z4 that had a wireless charging mat but the vendor was unclear about carplay. He suggested to me only 2020 year models and later have carplay or those cars with the tech pack installed?

Wireless CarPlay
By default, they should all have CarPlay as standard. However, certain cars might have it deleted due to chip shortage. It's not expensive to retrofit though.

You can retrofit everything as long as you are happy to pay the price. I retrofit 7 series comfort seat with massage function to my G31 5 series. My friend retrofit ACC to his G31. His friend then retrofit wireless CarPlay to his x6. You can search Bavarian Coding on facebook. Simon did all these retrofits for us.

Doubt you retrofit digital key. It requires the bmw servers to know you have it no?

Wireless CarPlay
Carplay all up and running, although was a little bit of a palavor.
On the BMW app I noted carplay was a free sub and with the tech pack I should be good to go. Was hard to see exactly how to activate carplay but selecting the phone then switching from ‘BMW iDrive’ to ‘Apple Carplay’ sorted it on the in car system.
Bonus tonight I found out it costs £89 a year to have the app actually connect to your car remotely
Subscription is the new business model for cars isn’t it. Everything is gonna be fitted as standard but you aint gonna be able to use every feature unless you pay a sub.
To be fair, its early days and loving every minute of the car.

I emailed your guy about it and haven’t heard back. If it’s not crazy money, I would do it.
