BMW Z4M ROADSTER

Post by Feejy57 » Mon Feb 06, 2023 2:15 pm

After 6 years of glorious ownership, a back injury is really the only reason I am offering this stunning example for sale. I have sold a few vehicles on this forum over the years and anyone that has bought from me here will testify I am confident, about the condition I maintain my vehicles in . Any potential purchase or viewing will not be a waste of your time.

Please don't be put off by the low post count here.........i had a name change on the forum years ago and haven't posted much since, I was Dietcokeman previously, so you can hopefully still see the many posts I contributed here , I was at Z Fest this year again, and am still lurking behind the scenes .

So here is the blurb .

BMW Z4M Roadster registered 19/11/2007 as a BMW Launch car. I am the 4th owner, and purchased the car in April 2017 with 29k on the clock. Its now showing 69k and may rise a little over the next few weeks. As a launch car it was one of only 3 in this colour combination, and is fully loaded with all the extra options.

SERVICE HISTORY

PDI at BMW THORNE 21/11/2007
Running in service Woods BMW Hampshire 6/12/08 Mileage 898 { important that this is done before 1200 miles on these or crank bearings can suffer with the running in oil getting too thin to protect the engine }
Oil service Bowker BMW 17/06/10 Mileage 12675
Inspection 1 Bowker BMW 26/03/14 Mileage 21265
Oil Service BMW Specialist Cars Stevenage 19/06/15 Mileage 25374
Inspection 2 DW Works {BMW Specialist Buckinghamshire} 24/10/17 Mileage 35572 { Valve clearances shimmed up to spec, documented }
Oil Service Garage 786 {BMW Specialist Leicestershire } 21/01/20 Mileage 53619
Inspection 2 MSC {BMW Specialist Leicestershire } 16/06/22 Mileage 65819 { Valve Clearances and Crank bearings checked and given a clean bill of health, documented }

It should be noted that since my ownership i have changed the oil and filter every year as a matter of course, the first time being when i bought the car. I always do this so i know where i stand with oil and filter changes .

I have fitted a GAP TECH Roof module, which allows remote roof opening and closing from the keys. The Brake Calipers and Wheel Hubs have been professionally painted. I have two sets of genuine 224 Style M Wheels, one set has been completely refurbished recently, Stripped and dipped then re powder coated and are like new. The Second set are really really good and only the front two have minor kerb edging marks on them{ my Winter set},I am being critical here but they do have some marks. I have a spare set of door sill trims, brand new and i have the original gear knob, as the car sports the lower ZHP/ F5 model gear knob .

These cars are known for three major issues, The first and most well known is the roof motors failing . This issue is well know to me and i have become some what of a dab hand removing and replacing these motors on both this E85 Model and the later E89 model, I can point you to various people on this forum that have had roof motor issues sorted by me. So in this car, I have removed the roof motor and serviced it, and fitted it back inside a non leak { the issue that causes failure } housing. It won't fail now, and I will warrant this for a two years from purchase .{I will sort it free if a problem occurs with the motor}

The second issue is Crank Shaft or Big End Bearing Failure , due to the running in service being done too late. This car was under BMW's ownership as a Launch car when this service was done at below the maximum recommended mileage . I also had the bearings checked at 35000 miles and 65000 miles ,as belt braces for peace of mind and neither times were any bearings showing any signs of excess wear.

The Third issue is failure of the ABS/DSC Unit. Unfortunately this car did suffer this in 2021 and the car had to be taken to BMW Sytner in Leicester and have a completely new unit fitted and a software upgrade for the ECU. The old units originally fitted were exchangeable if they failed, but could fail again after a few years, so new software and a new unit are the only way forward. This cost me 2.5k and should now be good for life.

The sharp eyed may notice that this car has silver rather than black steering wheel trims. I will, if required return these back to Black if you prefer. The Roof has been Cleaned regularly with Auto Glyms cleaner and reproofer, and the Leather Seats show very little wear, especially on the bolsters, unlike most you will see advertised. The front Valance does have some stone chips along the front edge which is pretty much unavoidable, but the rest of the cars paintwork is pretty much spotless. Everything works as it should and I have pretty much every piece of paperwork that pertains to the cars history, all the MOT's full compliment of manuals and keys, including the plastic service key. The original Keyrings from Bowker and a touch up paint stick. A fully stamped Service book with corresponding invoices , the original spec sheet, original sales invoice for 48K and further sales invoices from BMW when the first owner traded it in and it was resold.

There is a chip repair to the windscreen just outside the passenger side wiper sweep , it was there when i bought the car and hasn't changed, and has never been questioned at MOT, which was last done in December, 20/12/2022. NO advisories.

In Short this is an appreciating car, in stunning condition and has a paperwork and history file that matches the cars condition. Its a really rare colour combination, has had all the major issues sorted out or prevented and represents a proper drivers car with the soon to be discontinued {BMW ARENT DOING MANULAS ANYMORE !}manual gearbox. 340BHP, in a small pocket rocket chassis, Non run flat Tyres on the M model ,so comes with the tyre gunk and pump kit, Hydraulic rather than Electronic power steering, Double Twin Exhaust each side, new battery and rear springs in the last two years. Meticulously kept and maintained.

I have no doubt missed a few things ,obviously a chat on the phone will hopefully sort out your questions, but the car is advertised elsewhere without all the extras for 18.5k, obviously members here will get a preferential price of 18K with all the extras .

Video walk around available.
Car located in Leicestershire , 5 mins from J21A M1.

Looks decent, GLTWS!
Whoever gave you the advice to check the bearings rather than just replace them at that point needs a slap though, all the hard work is done if they've been taken off to physically check. For hundred or so extra beans may as well have put new ones in :headbang:

That is an absolutely stunning car car in my favourite colour combination. Somebody is going to get a real peach.
When I first joined the Forum I bought a steering wheel from you which you kindly took directly to Royal’s for recovering. I have often wondered what happened to you. Good to see you back on the Forum even if it is to sell you beautiful Z..
