2004 2.5 SE Alcantara Steering Wheel Replacement

Post by ZOID » Wed Feb 01, 2023 2:39 am

Hi All

I would really like to replace my current stock rather tatty and worn out 2.5SE 2004 Z4's Wheel with a nice flat bottom Alcan tara wheel. The existing is the stock round one, no buttons, worn out etc etc. So question is... does anyone have a recommended place to get one? Secondly are there any issues with the airbag for recoding etc etc. The stock has no electronics as far as I can see or buttons just the airbag.

Based in Devon, any advise or recommendations appreciated

:-)

No one paying you much attention, sorry.
I would suggest you speak to Royals, who refurbish steering wheels to exact customer requirements. I'm not sure if they convert to flat bottom wheels though, if you're really sure you need that?
Trouble with buying off eBay is you can't be sure if it's been done properly or bodged and hidden under a new cover.
I think you'd be looking under £200 for Royals to do yours in Alcantara if you kept it round. They can do fancy stuff like colour coded stitching, contrasting band at the top etc.
You can swap over the airbag with no issues.
They do various options. Send yours and wait for it to come back, or they send you one already done, then you send yours back to them.
Have a search for threads about 'Royal' on here. You'll see some lovely examples.
HQ of 'Norfolk Zed Rescue'.
Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Zoid I'm not selling. Just meant I bought one like this. If your interested I'd pass on the details. Normally, these sell for over £1,000 on sites like https://www.realcarbontastic.com/
        Or https://shopaskcarbon.com/?fbclid=PAAaY ... J6kVjW9Xu8

But I got it from their supplier.
