Which Code Reader?
For the E85/86 which code reader is the best?
Creator C410 or Creator C310+
there's only about £5 difference between the two.
Thoughts?

If you've got a laptop, a downloaded copy of INPA and a lead from eBay does far more.

Very much so. A small colour screen and physical buttons, with not too many confusing options. Plug it in, select your model, and scan away.

I have the Creator C501, good unit for diagnosing but it doesn't have the capability to reset adaptations.

As an alternative, I have an Autophix 5900 which pretty much seems the equal of the C310+.
I have used it to clear an airbag light and to reset adaptations for throttle and vanos.
With a bit of application from me it also proved able to ratify that it was my DME that had failed.

I've got the 310+ and have been very happy with it. I just keep it in the car in case I need it on the road.

I also have the C310+ and it has done everything I've asked of it on my z4, 1 series and my girlfriend's mini. There might be things only a laptop can do but not that I've found. Super useful to have it live in the glovebox too

That is the main advantage. Keep it in the car. You can use more sophisticated devices to dig deeper once you're home.skmattwell wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:15 pm I also have the C310+ and it has done everything I've asked of it on my z4, 1 series and my girlfriend's mini. If you're buying through amazon you can save a tenner by getting a 'Like new' unit. That's what I did and it still had all the plastic on it.
I think what people do is buy one, read their faults and send it back

great tip - hadn't thought of that! I mean buying it rather than using and returning!!!skmattwell wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 4:32 pm If you're buying through amazon you can save a tenner by getting a 'Like new' unit. That's what I did and it still had all the plastic on it.

I got the C410 and its a cracking little unit, keep it in the car just in case. Used it to find a dodgy rear parking sensor the other day and replaced it.

Are you aware of any advantages/disadvantages over the C310+ version?
