Crashed Z4 Coupe

Post by biojo » Tue Jan 31, 2023 12:21 pm

So on the way to work this morning,

I was coming from the arrow, indicating to come off at the next junction, when hes pulling out, then stopped blocking my exit no traffic in front of him

Above all, I hope your well mate. Accidents happen unfortunately. Looks like the bumper has taken the majority of the impact, with damage to the headlight. With all impacts, there's always damage you might not realise at first until further investigations are taken. Hopefully, the radiators are still ok, and the insurance company sorts it quickly for you.

thats really annoying.... get your insurance claim in, give them your version of events, dont accept full liability. likelihood it'll go 50/50 as what tends to happen on roundabouts.

dont suppose there were any witnesses who can back up your side of events?

either way, hope you get it sorted. unfortunately it doesnt take much to write off a z4 these days, so might be buying it back and repairing it yourself.

Well my insureance said claim through his if hes at fault.

BUt then when i finally got his details, hes said all mine, tried for 2 hours to get through to mine but couldnt

No everyone around just drove off no one else stopped

well quote for fixings just come back at nearly 5k

Repeairing my self wouldnt bother me, but its the headlight thats hard to source unless BMW have them in at silly price, also the annoying part of it costing money when theyve pulled out into my path of travel, but like others have said maybe if i hadnt have braked and gone straight into side it would be seen more there fault

Sorry to hear about the accident! I always worry about getting the insurance involved in these situations as they will write off the car just because it's 'old'.

I wouldn't buy a new headlight from bmw as they would be extortionate, there's a few knocking about on ebay

yeah looking online around 900 as mines bi-XENON

If it was me that crashed into something static, I would look at fixing it myself. but its as hes pulled infront of me then hes trying "he`s hit me from behind" when its the side of his bumper Ive gone into im fuming about it.

He should stop until its safe to enter the roundabout which it sounds like he didn't. I can't see road markings or signs in that google image indicating his stop/entry point though?

So sorry to read your sad news. :(

£5K for parts sounds mad, unless that includes new Bi-Xenons. :o

And just to make things worse the numpty claims it was your fault. :headbang:

I hope you get a decent outcome.

I'm no expert but all this sounds ridiculous. I've had my bumper and headlight damaged before. Bumper was £80 off someone on the forum and headlight was £200 (or around £800 for xenon)

Both simple diy jobs that even I managed by myself. To total that up to £5k is ridiculous. The thing is they are breaking down every little part of the bumper and sourcing that new from BMW, so it's completely extortionate

OP. Looking at the google street view and what you have said, I can see you may have several problems here.
You did run into the back of him, no matter what the circumstances.
The exit from the A656 onto the roundabout looks like the majority of the hatched lines are missing (worn out). The Audi driver can use this.
I couldn't see any signs warning of a roundabout on the A656. It does look like it is a 'feeder lane' from the roundabout to the A642 from google TBH, even though it isn't. The Audi driver can use this too.

I would think the best you are going to get is a 50-50 insurance claim, worst is 100% your fault.

IMHO of course! :|
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.
