We are in the Gambia right now and I've loved it. 6.5 hour flight from Manchester and the weather has been close to 30 most days and still warm of an evening. We had been before and enjoyed it 5 years ago and I'm looking already for next year.

A good choice and have already stayed at the Layana which was a very nice hotel but you weren't given good service unless you were using the very expensive hotel restaurants and bar.

Happy to have a chat if of interest, though I would recommend not going AI.
Any hotels would be appreciated. Have already stayed at The Sugar Bay and The House

Some great suggestions and looking more closely at those we haven’t considered before. Thanks

Have also been speaking to a travel rep who suggested one of the Heritage group hotels in the south of Mauritius. Whilst not adults only they are mainly used by golfers so he says they tend not to attract families with kids.

Never been so anyone with first hand knowledge out there?

Stayed in sugar bay but only because BE fecked up and we got AI accommodation for less than the price of flights.
It’s sister hotel Bougainville does room only and is lovely, southern palms and infinity on the beach are both great too but not at the level of Bougainvillea.
Abstinence is fine, in moderation.

Honestly, wouldn’t promote Mauritius. It’s lovely but if you’re well travelled you probably won’t be blown away. Great value tho. Maldives for us every day. We’ve also been to Barbados and St Lucia… would recommend the latter… Rendezvous in the north of the island. We took a bus but if we went back we’d take an internal helicopter flight as airfield is next to it (it’s not busy!).
We are about to embark on a month in New Zealand, 5 years in the planning (covid scuppered plans) so watch this space on possibilities.

We were married 28 years ago at The Rendezvous but it's called something else now. Suppose I could go back and check if it still legal?

Sounds too expensive for us and besides, at 69, not old enough for a cruise just yet :poke:

You enjoy what sounds like a fantastic trip.

We went back to Sandals Grande in 2004 and we met up with the minister who married us doing a wedding there.

She was a great old girl, full on baptist, full service talking about how we should have deep love in and out of the bedroom, all in 90 degree heat wearing a Tux. Worth it for the wedding photos though. They don't look real.
