OE iDrive reversing camera

A future video for my YouTube channel.
For those with iDrive but don't want an mmi box, but would like a reversing camera.....
I give you OE iDrive with reversing camera!!
I've never seen this on an E89 Z4 before, to the best of my knowledge it's only ever been done on the E9x 3 Series, etc
Don't know how long it'll be before I get this one out as I've already got a few in the works now.

Its funny you say that, because you can code for Trailer Hitch view as well, which i didn't do, but I have seen it done on the E9x series

Its a relatively simple straightforward mod to do, excluding the camera install.
With the camera I'd put aside about three hours for all of the job. There is some coding required using NCSExpert (not Carly, Bimmercode etc).
Costwise, here in the UK prices are about £40 for the emulator then the cost of your chosen camera. So not too expensive, certainly cheaper than an mmi box!

I went to a stereo, alarm, etc, shop. They quoted US$1700 for parts and labour. (Nothing is cheap is San Francisco.) That’s the upper limit. It could be less they said.

They said the camera loom needs to run with the roof loom. And the module needs to go behind the glove compartment. That all other things require hours of labour.

Dave’s video can’t get ready soon enough.

Thats because I already have other videos in the works before i start on this, all of which were filmed last September. This was done because I'm starting a major project at home now thats not going to give me time to "tinker" during the day. Although I’ve got this camera mod working I've not filmed any of it, so there's not a chance of a video coming out this side of May unfortunately. There is also a more important reason here, longevity! This is some mass produced Chinese stuff bought from Aliexpress, before i recommend it i want to make sure it lasts, and this delay in making the video will give me the chance to test it.

The photo was only a teaser.
Similar, in a way, to this photo of a nice genuine boot liner that i bought recently for peanuts...
