Mirror glass loose

Post by flybobbie » Sat Jan 28, 2023 10:54 am

So i fitted some B4 shocks, result both wing mirror glasses vibrating.
I thought these shocks aren't suited to the car.

So this morning i pushed on the mirror glass, seemed loose.
So i put finger nail under glass and came off in my hand.
Both sides the same, just being held by a few millimetres along the top edge.
Back of glass water stained so been like that some time.

Looks like the bonding that was attached to the glass is still in housing.
Perhaps the heating has caused it to detach.
I wonder what is the best glue to reattach.

First thought was use some 2 part epoxy, but will it soften with the heat?

Oh dear.your car just keeps on giving….

My LH wing mirror glass on my 2012 20i MSport had a slight vibration…I tried to get it off to have a look following the prescribed methodology but never got it to release…sold the car .problem solved
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard..

Epoxy may be stronger but you could also try superglue

What about the double sided tape BMW use to fix the badges to the car, they never seem to come off and are difficult even when you want them off.

I have just used basic cheapo glue from B & M in the past. Mirror never fell off afterwards.

For whatever reason, this website does not tag the posts with dates on my browser, so forgive me if this is an old thread.
Both of my mirror glass came off, I used rubber cement and they are bound tight.
