Now it seems this crappy Getrag gearbox playing up.
Few times in summer it embarrased me at the lights not going into 1st. had to shuffle through the gears.
Twice i have struggled to get it into reverse, 1st or 2nd gear unless i go through all the gears.
Struggled today, temperature at 5 degrees so not as cold as a few days ago.
The fact it plays up on those 3 selections makes me wonder if it a linkage problem.

Always been a horrible notchy box, spoiling the enjoyment of driving.

Is there anything, anything that's OK with your car? :tumbleweed:

Have you changed the gearbox oil? That can improve the shift according to reports.

Failing that maybe some matches?

TBF I've round BMW manual gearboxes vary widely. I've currently got my 7th and 8th and the one in my 330i is just like yours. I've had the selector bush replaced, fresh fluid and CDV removed but it is still often very reluctant to go into first from time to time.

Once I get past 2nd the change quality is actually quite good, but it's definitely the most obstructive on I've had so far. But I can't see what else I can do. :(
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Double edged sword for the oil change, it can also make things worse, especially if your selector rings are worn badly..

This car has become a perpetual ball ache. It's the equivalent of having a naked pumped up Mr T pressed up against your backside........Stressful!!.
I applaud your perseverance. I'd have lost patience months ago.

Wait till summer, very tempted to pull the box.
Did keep a link somewhere to a company selling syncros.

When cold i often have to double declutch 1st to 2nd save it crunching. Or skip 2nd.
But it not shifting into 1 2 or reverse a new thing.

Do you know which Getrag box you have, doing the shift pins you don't have to open up the box, it's all done externally.
