Rear speaker change

Post by .adam. » Sun Jan 22, 2023 10:10 pm

Just noticed today that the speaker behind the driver seat isn't working on my e86, this is on the standard 6 speaker system. Doing a bit of research it sounds like a pig of a job to change, I found a guide for a non nav e85, so not sure if it would be hugely different for my nav system?
I've got to decide if I really want to go through the hassle of changing, but if I do I want to make sure I've got the correct speaker to replace it with. I think I would want to go for a standard speaker, so then I only have to change one side, so am I correct in thinking this is what I need?

That will do it, although the correct part number for your coupe is 65136950131, or 65139143230 if later than Jan 2007. They are all interchangeable.

Thanks very much. So it's one of these then?

For my previous cars I've always managed to find an online workshop manual, is there one available for the e85/e86?

There you go, saved you £15 :D . If you are thinking of upgrading from the 6-speaker set up, the same speaker goes in the doors behind the dummy grills.

 Do you know if the wiring is in place if you want to put in the extra speakers? If it is then I might get a couple more and put them in as they're quite cheap.

Just found PerryGunns How to guide on putting the speakers in the door, so might have a go at that as well.

The answer is no, the wiring is not in place but I recall you can wire them up with the tweeters. I may even have read that in Perry’s thread.
