Interior upgrade - Paddle Shifters

Post by Z4000 » Fri Jan 20, 2023 3:41 pm

Hi Z4-Forum,
Lately, my dad and I have talked about upgrading the interior of his Z4 E85 from 2003. Especially Paddle shifters have been on the list however we can't seem to find out if it's actually possible or not.
Have any of you experience or knowledge on this topic?

everything is possible, given enough time and money... heres an E85 wheel with the SMG paddles attached, so i'd presume if you got busy with some wiring you could make the paddles control the automatic gearbox...

I think you need the slip ring as well as the shifter toggles

I'm unfortunately a rookie on cars, and have no experience working on them.
So i hope to pay someone to do it. However no one seems to be keen on doing it.

ah. if you're paying someone to do it, then you'd likely be better off selling the car, and buying one with paddleshifters! most of these type of modifications aren't very expensive, but they do take a lot of time, and fettling.

Interior upgrade - Paddle Shifters

I live in Denmark and we have a 180% tax on cars, which means that it wouldn't make sense for me to sell the car and buy another one. However, I might have found a solution.
I bought a steering wheel from the USA for 500€. I prioritized the condition of the steering wheel, you can definitely get it cheaper.
A company in Germany called "Bimmer Manufaktur" is willing to wire/mount/code for 350€.
So I guess the total for me is gonna be ∼ 850€
Thanks to everyone who helped out
