Opie oils website - recommendations?

Post by True-Blue » Wed Jan 18, 2023 2:22 pm

Looking at opie oils website for engine oil (have filters coming from AutoDoc doc as part of another order) and it seems to throw up some random options despite me putting the registration in?

On of the recommendations seems to be for a VW specific oil? This is for a 3.0 N52 ?

Anyone have any specific recommendations for oil for 3.0 N52, car is on 74k miles.

BMW Longlife-01 FE Is the current recommendation for N52 engines..

It’s a 0W or 5W 30 oil..Suggest you search for oils complying with that spec ..

Before everyone leaps in you can use oils that meet

BMW Longlife-01

Please refer to Enclosure 4.

BMW Longlife-01 FE

Please refer to Enclosure 5.

BMW Longlife-04

Please refer to Enclosure 6.

BMW Longlife-12 FE

Please refer to Enclosure 7.

But 01-FE is the the recommended option..

Used Mobil 1 0-W40 for 10 years on my N52. Started at 29k now 97k miles.
Burns 1 litre in 10k miles.
Driving 7 miles each way to work most of that time.
So oil not particularly stressed.
Probably burn less oil if journey's were longer but less cycles.

5k oil changes, BMW probably say nearer 15k on the used based system in car.
No thanks.
