No; it's a BMW. It's always 'bonging' for one reason or another; "I need a service, you revved me with the handbrake on, it's cold out, the roof is f*cked again....etc, etc" :)

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

Comfort access has CR2032 batteries you can replace and by definition cannot be recharged..in the car or anywhere else.
So to sum up: the 'slot' in a comfort access equipped E89 is just a 'fob holder', somewhere convenient to put your key, as it clearly doesn't do anything...that's just plain stupid!

It’s got two great benefits

If you have two E89s, preferably Atacama Yellow, near identical , you can get in and start each car without thinking ‘do I have comfort access’

Also it’s a great place to keep your key…no holes in pockets , no which pocket etc etc
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

On the flip side, I get out of the Z4 and ALWAYS forget to take the key out of the stupid slot first time! :D
There’s something strangely satisfying about turning an ignition key to start a car! :driving:
Rob
Very much so…and..when the battery was almost flat yiu could turn the key till it twisted..then the car would fire

I ALWAYS assume the bong means ‘the roof is f***ed…and..you are 457 miles from home, the roofs down, and it’s about to rain’ type bong

I went out the other day, the car 'bonged' so I instantly looked at the roof buttons. Took a while to work out the outside temp had dropped to 4 degrees! :D

My X6 has comfort access and has a slot for the fob and I always put the fob in the slot before starting.

I agree gentleman, I read that in the owners manual as well. Still the mystery of the fob “coming alive” after a drive is the question. Tomorrow I’ll will try the fob before I take a drive and see if it works. It’s almost Like it re synchros to the car after a drive. :driving:

Old age, mate. Nostalgia. Everything was better in the old days. :P
Three cars and none of them has a 'proper' key to turn! :o

Old age is right. Christ just put the key in the door and in the ignition. It’s a lot of “Shazam “ for no real purpose.
