If you struggle to find a set of 107s maybe 202s would be an option as they are a very similar style.

My favourite thing about pre-facelifts is the look of the front as the foglights look so much better than those oblong water traps they fitted to the facelifts!
Coupes because stunning!

Tackled the very cloudy headlights today. First off with a Turtlewax headlight restorer kit, but that literally didn't cut it.

So I broke out the DA polisher and some Meguiars Ultimate Compound, followed by Ultimate Finishing Polish and finished with the lens protector that came with the kit.

Looks a lot better now.

Super-satisfying job. You will find the night lighting a lot better too.
The pre-packed restore kits are a bit crappy. A two stage polish is definitely more effective, and it helps if you have a really small wheel on the DA to get at the edges.

It was an enjoyable hour thats for sure. Don’t have a small wheel for my DA, so just angled into the corners.

Now that's what I'm talking about , brilliant job , I bet it was satisfying seeing them come up so well.
Still to cold here in Wales to attempt anything outside, but I had a first proper look at the Coupe in the sunshine today ( it was raining heavily when I viewed it and also when l picked it up) and boy....oh boy.....mine looks like its had 14 years of washing with a scouring pad! Paint work it terrible, but fortunately it only had a couple of tiny scratches I won't get out with a DA and 2 tiny dents that I think could be pulled out. I'm just itching to rip in her as even a couple of minutes with a splodge of meguiars colours/ swirl restorer applied by hand on a cloth made a massive improvement.
Also waiting for my new DA with various Hexlogic pads to turn up ...I'll have to post some before n after pics when I start.

I fancy trying the meguiars 105 on the imperfections and swirls......is it any good?

The 105 is like liquid magic. Seriously good.

Inkey$ Z4 3.0 project diary (Inspection 2)

Post by inkey$ » Mon Jan 23, 2023 5:42 pm

Took the Zed over to my local indy today for a few things. Still have by airbag light on, but lots of lovely stuff completed today, including:

- Inspection 2: all fluids and oils - engine oil, oil filter, pollen filter, air filter, screenwash, plugs, gearbox oil and diff oil.
- Pollen filter was from 2012 (!) and it looked like it had all its original spark plugs still :o
- DISA valve checked and all fine
- Adjusted handbrake
- Greased bonnet latches as en route I notice it wasn't fully closing after opening this weekend (lots of fun on the M25 in attempting to not engage a new air brake)

The diff is looking a bit corroded but fine. Everything else looking good and next jobs aside from the airbag fault will be to update the cars software and adjust the deadzone on the electronic steering (wheel twitches slightly at speed).

Thank you. I managed to get this lovely set from Simon Ireland. I think they work so well on a black Z4. Couldn’t be happier :D
