Also more colours, rather than the limited offering in the pre-LCI.

It’s a shame the Z4 has nearly run it’s production life for BMW to wake up to offering customers some more choices!

I'm surprised TBH.
Manual gearboxes are very rare on any BMW these days, apart from the very low end.
They offered the F8x M3 and M4 in a manual, but didn't sell many. The very few that do come up for sale are hard to shift (no pun) and are generally cheaper.

Is this new information available? It was discussed on here at time of the release of info on the Lci but seemed to be no mention/intention for a manual in the U.K..

I went along to my supplying dealer for a look and chat re the lci and too have a look at the colours now offered.

Didn’t have a G29 but same colour on an 8 series, was nice in the metal

There's a colour itch waiting to be scratched!

I'm still not convinced on that colour. I'll reserve judgement til I've seen it up close! It's certainly a statement colour though!

UK configurator doesn’t show any options for transmission save stock 8 speed ZF box..?

Was just having a little bit of consumer survey by casually introducing Kathleen to the colour

. For complete transparency I also showed her the skyscraper grey one behind it expecting that to be her choice, no hesitation, she said purple every time. I have to admit I was surprised at her choice and also the grey was nice and I’d have been happy with that if she’d preferred that.

Daughter said yesterday she’s thinking about going back to university in September and son said he’s looking at buying first house this year (18 a couple of weeks ago) so funds availability may be slightly different than I thought 8 weeks ago

I was looking at the skyscraper grey... is that the light grey? Dont think I've seen that in the flesh yet either although I suspect it will look pretty good.

I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a darker grey, like the mineral grey. That and the shadow pack would look banging. (Appreciate it's a bit of a common colour though across the BMW range and I've always loved that combo and I am a bit boring). Not that I'm looking to change my car any time soon. It's not even run in yet!

But I am getting annoyed with all the tar blobs that I seem to be spending my life removing from the sides.

Uni and first house! Killer combination impacting on the bank of mum and dad!

'Showroom' colour that!
They always look great all polished and under bright lights. On a grey, misty day (which I know you get your fair share of) I can imagine some regret creeping in! Then there is the trying to sell it on at some point.
There has been an individual violet 4 series cab on the market for at least 8 months!

I hope they don't offer a manual, or the wife will want to swap the E89 for one. She won't drive an auto, for some strange reason!

There I was thinking I might actually go have a look and treat myself haha.

Automatic only in a sports car lol.

M40i can be driven pretty much as a manual in full sports settings. No auto change up, can hold gears, revs etc

Thoughts of a manual gearbox are very appealing, until I’m stuck on the M42 in stop start traffic. Certainly wouldn’t buy a car at the moment given the interest rates at present.
