Just joined and thought I'd say hello!
I'm hoping to buy an e86 in the next few months, I'm coming from owning a Westfield for 10 years, then a VX220 Turbo for around 6 years, then a break from anything interesting for almost 4 years, and I'm now in the position to get back in a nice car.
I was looking for something a bit special and rare, but also with reasonable running costs, and was drawn to the e86.

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I thought it was great, after the Westie it seemed practical! I tended to SORN it over the winter, but it was used well for the rest of the year. It had a mild tune up to around 225bhp, and only weighing 930kg it was quick enough!

I had thought about one of these in the past but it looked far too impractical and uncomfortable for a daily driver, but have never actually driven one.

Don't think I would have wanted to use it as a daily, but as a second car it was great. When I get a Z4C, it will be mainly as a second car, but will still need to be used all year round, plus I don't have a garage any more so needs to be happy sitting outside all the time.
Are there any buyers guides around for the Z4?

Welcome and all the best with your search. Do you have a preference on colour and specifications? For what it's worth these cars seem very well put together so don't be put off by mileage as long as it has a good service history.

Welcome to the forum. :) Going all cosy in your dotage then. I recall a ride in a VX220T at Castle Combe, when they first came out. First time into the cicane the guy lost it. Laught my pants off. Once he got to grips it, it was eating the Boxsters around us, for breakfast. :driving:

Good luck with your search.

Welcome and well done on finding a great looking car.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.
