Owner experiences - Celtic tuning remap? Alternatives?

Post by Rldee007 » Thu Jan 05, 2023 7:53 am

I've used Angel Tunning in Banbury for my 2.4 Diesel Alfa Romeo Spider (939). I also had the DPF and EGR sorted too.

No rolling road but changes were night and day.
Claimed:
Power: 200bhp to 250bhp
Torque: 400N to 440/480N

The Banbury suite were the company that created the Jensen interceptor featured on Top Gear years ago. So walking/shown around while I waited was super interesting. I believe they also let you borrow a car so you can go shopping in Bicester too.

Super polite and helpful people.

Another one for Superchips/Remap Kings.

Good value, great service on your drive and a massive improvement in performance.
Z3 rare 2L Straight 6. Should have kept it!
E85 3.0Si sold back in 2014. Should have kept it!

Nice to see Angel Tuning get a mention! i've used them three times, for a 335i and then two 330ds. put 60k on the two 330ds with no problems. dont get dyno readings but the difference in torque and driveability after a remap is obvious.

i normally get a discount for repeat service, and they normally pick up the car from my work and drop it off again when done. i'll be honest, any car i get now that has a turbocharger, i'll be going to them for a remap.

Did you use the Banbury?
Noticed you are from Leamington Spa too.

Owner experiences - Celtic tuning remap? Alternatives?

Post by sumotan » Fri Jan 06, 2023 8:17 am

Hi Gents,
Posted a thread on remote ECU flashing but don't think anyone is doing it. So my question pls,
I running JB4 which I've log smoome maps. Do you Gents think a tuner can optimize Ecu reflesh base on log date that I provide ?
My last resort is to remove the Ecu & send it perhaps to UK for a remap.

Many thanks

Before you continue, have you done a Search for 'Celtic' and read its 55 posts, especially the ones by R.E92?

Yes I did read some & recall that their re map isn't that great, perhaps it has to do with which dealer is doing the mapping.

Thank you

Very few people here on Zeds in the UK use JB4..

I’d suggest you look at US JB4 users on 2/3/4 series for some helpful feedback…

One of the reasons I sadly sold my N20 E89 is there is very limited technical support for the platform..and a lot can’t be read across as the N20 was a hybrid fit into what was an older architecture platform,,where’s with say N54 there are LOADS of possible options..

Not suggesting you sell your car…🙈

Thanks for the reply B21, always wanted a 35i, unfortunately there's less than 8 in the whole of Indonesia & where Im at there's only 2 E89s the other being a 20i. Having said that, I had a chance drive in a modded 35i in Singapore, quite a monster in straight line but didn't felt that good & nimbly as compared to my 28i on winding roads, so now my thoughts has change a little, will just keep the car & try to get a better Ecu remap.
Re JB4 on the 2/3/4 doesn't work well on the E89 strange but.

Many thanks again

Yes the N20 powered E89 is a much sweeter handler than the barge aka 35i/35is.. :tumbleweed:

Does the Celtic Emotion thing not work for you?

Hi B21
Thanks again for the reply. No I've not look in the Celtic evolution as there were some good & bad reviews on their mapping so was not sure to go with them. What's your thoughts on Celtic B21 ?

Many thanks again

As discussed, better if you are dealing direct with them rather than a distribution network…

Looks like about your only option…

So if it was me despite my personal experiences with a distributor I’d go with it..
