On their website, which I was looking at yesterday by chance :o , they have a biography of John Haynes for sale. Looks like a very interesting read, same as the manuals he produced!

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

I want to 'faff' around. That is the whole point. I don't want to ride the bloody things. Riding bikes in anger is a thing of the past for me. I want any machinery to work, yes, but it's about making them 'perfect' for me. I have problems; I am fully aware of that! :)
I used to set the timing on mine using a cigarette paper :P You soon notice when the timing isn’t quite right, it takes the edge off the performance.

Fair enough. I hate faffing, I'd much rather be a hooligan again!

My mate bought a few bikes from an auction at Haynes earlier this year, and one was a scruffy KH250.
Coupes because stunning!

There is one area of 'old' bikes which have to be right for me; the exhausts. Jap bikes, seemingly especially Kawasaki didn't make their exhausts very durable for the UK. So many old bikes have aftermarket exhausts, or dented and knackered originals. I have a real problem with four stroke bikes that came out of the factory with 4-2 or 4-4 exhausts that have 4-1 on them. Two strokes with Allspeeds or Microns also. All about the originality for me. Getting hold of OEM exhausts seems pretty much impossible or VERY expensive.

Allspeeds were one of the best mods my KH500 had. :D

Good luck finding a 70s Jap bike with an OE exhaust!

If I find one (or two) and do them up, I will ride one down to my best mate's house (in Mychett, Camberley) and come for a visit. Deal? :)

Never liked the GPX range, GPZ looked far better imho.

Right now I'd love an RD350LC, but wouldn't mind a Suzuki GT500 either.
Wish i had kept my Mars Bar Yam RD250LC :(

Which is exactly why the GPX are less money! Not iconic like the GPz.
