Chris_D I think this is the first 2 page thread I've seen where you haven't abused anyone, or been a complete dick at some point! :poke:

Is it because it's Xmas, or did you get laid (by a woman) recently? :D :P

Whatever it is, well done, laaa!
Fixed that for you Pondy.

Now the girls have finished bitching. If the Z is a daily driver it’s a no brainer to fit all seasons in winter, it’s the drive you depend on, the grip on any slippery surface is much better. Side roads and driveways don’t get gritted, summer tyres just don’t grip, even worse if you have an LSD you go sideways even faster.

It's called banter, with a good dollop of humour thrown in. Goes a long way in modern life, and even further in here IMHO.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold

Yep, definitely agree it's a no brainer to spend £hundreds on different tyres because your driveway isn't gritted.

+ vitriol, pathos and derision. All essential elements of any given thread.

After watching numerous clips of people crashing their cars in slow motion in that little bit of snow you had in the South, I bet they’re all wishing they’d invested in tyres suited to the weather. And that’s the point, you can choose not to drive if it’s snowing unless you’re already out and it starts to snow.

I don’t understand the expense logic either, tyres wear, so the overall cost if you keep a car for three years is not significantly different if you do reasonable miles, the outlay is the alloys but they can be had cheaply enough, certainly less than your insurance excess.

However if you only keep your car for a few weeks, or rather spend your money on shiny bling rather than trying to make it stop in cold conditions, we’ll what can I say :P

Maybe the law needs changing in the UK sars?

When it snows & settles, any vehicles on summer tyres are immediately banned from using the roads

Cross or full winters only

Then do as the Germans do, impound any car found breaking the ban with a fine plus cost of replacing all 4 tyres before u get it back
