Whenever I’ve done something similar I find that if you put everything back where you found it you’ll find the problem
If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Did you cut the wires or piggyback them? With a piggyback you could have actually cut the cable so check all connections.

I’m no expert but have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. The roof might just need a reset.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Noticed yesterday there are 2 versions of the smart top
For the e85 one is plug and play the other is piggybacking a few wires , maybe that's the issue either way it doesn't help my current problem I have totally disconnected the smart top module I did have the battery disconnected at the time , but will disconnect rhe battery tonight and leave it 30 minutes
Thanks for your replies guys

Hi thanks for the replies any advice is very much appreciated, tried disconnecting battery for a hour but made no difference will put a multimeter across the terminals of the roof motor which has been relocated in the boot ( thankfully) can anyone recommend a easy obd scanner, don't really want to take it to garage as I like to have a mess myself, and really had some bad experience with garages, brake pipes zip tied worn through loose wheel nuts bolts missing etc

Did you revert everything back to how it was?

No point in getting a scanner to tell you the circuit is incomplete?

Can't help with your roof issue but I will suggest that your punctuation is absolutely atrocious!
'and' never comes after a comma in any circumstance.

Sorry old boy incorrect
On Monday we'll see the Eiffel Tower, and on Tuesday we'll visit the Louvre. Is correct usage.
