Charging Remote Control (key fob)

Post by spitfun » Fri Dec 02, 2022 3:35 pm

Does anybody know if you leave the remote plugged into socket in car if it charges the rechargeable remotes or only when car is on?

Charging Remote Control

Do you mean the key fob?
If so then it charges while the car is running.
Unless you have keyless start (Comfort Access) then it's a replaceable battery.

Charging Remote Control

Yes,the key fob. I can plug the fob in to the car and push it again,at that point the car is not in accessry mode but the fob is still in the pocket-that's when I am wondering if it is charging. I have read it takes 30 hours to fully charge the battery so it would be nice to just leave it in there when not driving for a couple of days.

In that case there is no power anywhere, so it wont be charging.

Charging Remote Control (key fob)

That is what I am wondering,is there power when the key is in there, like most lighter sockets? I don't think I can take a meter and read in there because I believe it is a no contact charge. I guess I can look in there and see if there are contacts to take a reading off of..

Charging Remote Control (key fob)

There is no power to the accessory sockets or most other devices after the DME has commanded a shut down..this happens when you lock it or after a period of time which is around 10 minutes I think..

The DME reports as a fault any device that won’t shut down, save those that are needed to be on in some form…eg lock / unlock receiver..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

No electrical contacts, its an induced current, same as wireless charging.
