Headlight condensation

Post by r2uzenblot » Wed Nov 30, 2022 7:29 pm

Just cleaned my car ready for the forecasted crap weather and noticed that both my headlights had some condensation in. Anyone else had this? I've never seen it before.

Headlight condensation

Most of these complex headlight structures have atmospheric venting..so if damp air enters an the temperature drops condensation appears….certainly the Z4 E89 owners manual explicitly warns you of such events and to relax…
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

I get this regularly, often when washing the car. Goes away very quickly

You are correct. Went away after I had finished polishing. A strange phenomena..........

It's not really strange, just the relationship of dew points of air and temperature TBH.
If you wash your car with water at ambient temperature it won't happen, but then your hands will get really cold! :D
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

    F31 320i. Good car.
    E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!

Remember the days of sealed beam headlights.
    Progress, eh.
