So my 3.0 Si Sport N52 Coupe has now become a daily this winter and has just gone over 85k miles and is now booked in for an oil change.

Is there anything else I should change at this mileage, water pump and thermostat was done a few years back.

I'm thinking from a preventative measure, what about the DISA valve or any specific belts or gaskets.

My mechanic is of the thinking that if your going to take the time/labour to pull something apart then you may as well change it, but also that if its not broke, don't fix it.

Gus.

Don’t mess unless you’ve got problems. No point replacing all those gaskets unless they’re leaking oil. The only real critical failure point worth doing PM on is replacing the water pump, but that’s been done already. Oil change does not involve “pulling anything apart”, so there is no efficiency in getting any other jobs done at the same time. Just my opinion . . .

I also subscribe to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school of thought!

N52s are pretty robust and the main weak point (water pump) has already been done.
Coupes because stunning!

Thanks guys, its just the paranoid nature in me, but what about these horror stories of the DISA valves failing, or was that resolved on the 2007 N52's engines.

They can still fail on the 2006> n52 but i think it was only the m54 which could ingest them.

Alternatively join the RAC or AA? I'm definitely from the if it ain't broke don't fix it brigade.
